A consistently strong team in New England soccer circles, UMass Boston annually fields a side that is capable of challenging for the Little East Conference championship.

The Little East Conference allows the Beacons to test their mettle against quality opponents with the goal of winning the conference title.  The program also routinely schedules top level teams as part of their non-league schedule.

UMass Boston was the only Little East team to reach the postseason in 1996, when the Beacons qualified for the ECAC New England tournament. That year saw UMass Boston tie its single-season record for wins with a 13-5-2 season. The Beacons have produced one All-America in Carlos Fernandes, who was a third-team selection in 1996. Fernandes and standout forward Charlie Keskinidis have each been named Little East Player of the Year, with Keskinidis taking home the honor on two occasions.
