Matt Rowley begins his first season as the sixth Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach in UMass Boston history.

Rowley returns to his alma mater, with a wealth of coaching experience after spending the last four seasons as an Assistant Coach for the Boys Lacrosse team at Brewster Academy, where he was the Head Boys Soccer Coach as well. During that period, Rowley also coached the New England Select League Under-19 Team in 2007 and was an Assistant Coach for the Toronto Beaches of the Junior A Lacrosse League.

Prior to his move to the coaching sidelines, Rowley was a three-year starter for the Beacons from 2000-02, while seeing action in 45 games and helping UMass Boston to a 28-17 record as a midfielder. The two-year captain was a part of the Beacons school-record 12-victory 2001 campaign, where the Beacons finished 12-5, played for the inaugural Little East Conference championship and earned an ECAC New England playoff spot. He finished his career with 27 points, including 14 goals.

Rowley is a 2002 graduate of UMass Boston with a degree in English and American studies and currently resides in Boston.
